a policy of EFFICIENCY and QUALITY and EQUALITY of care for all patients

This website has been prepared to give you information about services offered to our patients and advice on treating minor illnesses. We aim to provide a friendly, prompt and comprehensive service. Our experience is that with your help this can be achieved. We are a non-limited partnership and work as a team, supported by nurse practitioners, practice nurses, administration staff and receptionists.
The Lakeside Medical Practice was established almost 40 years ago to serve the medical needs of the new population moving to the newly built town of Thamesmead and its surrounding areas. Early residents came mainly from inner London in an attempt to address the housing shortage which was prevalent in the mid to late 1960s. At that time the Practice was served by one doctor. Since then the Practice has grown to a patient list of over 13,000 and now has ten GPs. Six female doctors and four male doctors. The Practice serves an area with a diverse cultural and minority ethnic population requiring varied clinical care.
We have a team of people working for patients registered with us. They, with us, form what is called a Primary Care Team: Health Visitors, District Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and Practice Nurses, Dentists, Dieticians, Chiropodists and Occupational Therapist(s). All these services work towards caring for young and old alike.
